Organized Competitive Races
- Cox Memorial Series on Tuesday nights
- Pret Gladding and Bud Humphrey Races around Prudence Island (in May and September respectively)
- Senior Circuit Series (dinghy racing for adult members)
- Frostbite Series (November/December and March/April in Sunfish)
- Walter Seymour Race (between Junior and Adult members)
- 2-Person Racing (a double-handed keelboat race)
- Ole Ladies’ Cup (all woman crews are encouraged, all boats must have >50% female crews)
- Sunfish New England Regionals (held annually since the 70’s)
In addition, many of our members compete in Narragansett Bay Yachting Association races, Twenty Hundred Club races, the Newport Bermuda Race, Marblehead to Halifax Race, Annapolis to Newport Race, Marion to Bermuda Race, the Swanson Cup Team Race, as well as other organized events. A number of BYC members have distinguished themselves by winning many of these highly competitive sailing events.
Major Sailing Events
There is also considerable activity sponsoring, supporting, organizing and staffing major national and international sailboat regattas. Club members have run such varied events as the Olympic Trials, Sunfish North American and World Championships, 420 National, North American and World Championships, Laser 4.7 World Championships, J30 North American Championships, Optimist National Championships, Laser North American Championships. Club members also support various organizations such as Save the Bay throughout the year, and an annual Rhode Island International Sailing Association Regatta.
